Softa began with one cold floor, one tired family, and a better idea for home comfort.
We are a small, family-run company making warm, supportive house shoes for the moments that make a home feel like home.
It started during the winter of 2012.
Our family lived in an old house with beautiful hardwood floors and absolutely no mercy in winter. Every morning began the same way: cold feet, thin slippers, and a quick shuffle across the kitchen while the coffee brewed.
The slippers we owned were soft for a few weeks, then flattened into little more than fabric between our feet and the floor. They slipped on the stairs, offered no real support, and had to be replaced every season.
One especially cold morning, we looked at the pile of worn-out slippers by the door and asked a simple question: why did something worn every day feel so disposable?
So our family made the pair we could never find.
We wanted the warmth of a favorite blanket, the cushioning of a good shoe, and a real outsole that could handle the porch, the mailbox, and the early-morning dog walk.
Our first prototypes were tested the only way we knew how: around our own home. They were worn while making breakfast, working at the kitchen table, carrying laundry upstairs, taking the bins out, and settling in at the end of the day.
Every version taught us something. The fur needed to feel warm immediately. The footbed needed to recover instead of collapsing. The sole needed real grip. And the whole shoe needed to remain comfortable long after the first impression.
More than a slipper. A shoe made for home.
That idea became Softa: a structured, fur-lined house shoe designed for people who spend real time in it.
We build Softa around three essentials: dense faux-fur for warmth, a supportive footbed for long days, and a treaded indoor-outdoor sole for the moments when home extends beyond the front door.
We still judge every decision by the same standard we used in 2012: would we be proud to give this pair to someone in our own family? If the answer is no, it is not ready for yours.
Built slowly. Improved constantly. Made to be lived in.
Since our first winter, the goal has never changed: make the house shoe you reach for first in the morning and forget you are still wearing by the end of the day.
